Eglin Elementary School parents and guardians can mark their calendars for an open house scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday. The book fair will also be open that evening. The fair will run Monday through Friday during school hours.
As the Paxton School students in grades six through 12 returned after winter break, they had an opportunity to participate in the school’s inaugural Career Day.
Throughout the day, students learned about different career paths, including nurse practitioners, paramedics, law enforcement and customer service. Representatives of several careers were on hand to answer questions.
In Student of the Month news, December honorees included: Jenna Mitchem, elementary school; Kaylee Aplin, middle school; Hailey Ard, high school.
The Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections awards three $1,200 scholarships during its annual summer conference.
Applicants must be a political science, public or business administration or journalism/mass communication major that has completed two years of college and be enrolled or accepted as a full-time student in a senior college or university in Florida.
Applicants must also have been bona fide residents of Florida for two years and be registered to vote.

One nominee from Okaloosa County will be selected and forwarded to the FSASE Scholarship Committee to compete on the state level.

The Emerald Coast Public Relations Foundation offers a scholarship opportunity to high school seniors in Okaloosa and surrounding counties.
The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student intending to pursue a college degree in the areas of public relations, communication, marketing or journalism.
