MOUNDVILLE – Hale County’s 3-0 home win on Thursday keeps the Wildcats perfect in AHSAA Class 4A, Area 6 play. Hale County defeated West Blocton by set scores of 25-8, 25-8 and 25-9 to go to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in Area 6 heading into Monday’s match at Sipsey Valley.
Leading the win were Tyneisha Reed with nine service aces and 12 digs, Khadeja Bryant with four aces and 15 kills, Lyrick Boyd with three aces and 12 kills, Asia McMillian with three aces and 21 assists, and Emil Owens with seven kills.

Hillcrest won the road match in straight sets, 25-9, 25-13 and 25-13.
For the Patriots, Kylee Schlatter had 19 kills, 16 digs, four service aces and three assists. Lekydra Gilbert had 10 kills, 10 digs, three aces and two blocks. Gabby Deas made six kills, six digs and three assists. Cassidy Canterbury had 23 assists, one ace, four digs and five assists, and Katie Watkins made 15 assists, one dig and three aces.
It was an AHSAA Class 6A, Area 7 match. Hillcrest (13-7, 4-0) plays again on Wednesday at Tuscaloosa County.
American Christian Academy (10-4, 3-2 area) lost its first game against Montevallo, 22-25, but recovered to come back and win three straight games, 25-21, 25-16, 26-24, to take the victory Wednesday.
The Patriots were led by McKenzie Moore with 13 kills, Maggie Sullivan with 12 kills, and Rachel Burr with five aces. Caroline Sanders led the way on defense with six blocks while Kathrine Grill had six digs, respectively.
