MILTON — Kathy Sheppard, an award-winning artist who has traveled the U.S. and abroad, has studied and practiced art all of her life.
She is the Santa Rosa Art Association's next guest artist for the group's Sept. 23 meeting. The SRAA meets 9 a.m. the fourth Saturday of the month at the Pensacola State College campus, Building 4900, in Milton.
“Sheppard’s love of nature is evident in her paintings as she renders her subject matter realistically,” an SRAA media release states. “She works in watercolor, oil, acrylics, colored pencil and pen and ink. Kathy is known for her intricate detail in her botanicals, still lifes of crystal and lace, and her serene landscapes.
“Kathy also has the unique ability to capture life-like portraits of people and animals and the talent needed to capture her subject's personality as well.”
Sheppard has displayed her art along the Gulf Coast in galleries and outdoor shows for over 35 years and has taught art classes and workshops.
She has been an instructor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Fairhope, Alabama since 2002 and a displaying member of Quayside Art Gallery in Pensacola since 1978. She currently serves on Quayside’s board of directors. She has served as program chairman and chairman of the Art Exhibit at Pensacola Interstate Fair for Art Study Club for many years.
SRAA dues for the year, from August to May, are $30. Non-members can attend a guest learning session for $10. Payments and dues can be paid at meetings to treasurer Paula Knauber.
