MILTON — The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office was recently selected to participate in the “Protect the Protectors” campaign, launched by State Farm and Canary in 2015 to provide security to first responders.

The campaign donated 200 Canary home security systems free of charge to the sheriff’s office. The systems are equipped with motion sensors, sirens, video, smoke detectors, air humidity and quality detectors and smart phone connection capabilities.

According to SRCSO Public Information Officer Rich Aloy, many law enforcement officers are targeted in Florida every day while they are away from their homes and protecting the community.

“We all receive threats; it’s a daily occurrence,” Aloy said. “This system will help us while we are out serving the public — it’s important.”

Rep. Mike Hill, a State Farm agent, presented the security systems to dozens of sheriff’s deputies during a Wednesday ceremony.

“I can’t thank State Farm and Canary enough for their tremendous show of support for all first responders,” Johnson said. “In today’s environment, this gracious donation offers a piece of mind and one less thing to worry about while on patrol.”
