FORT WALTON BEACH — A homeless man who dined at the Hilton Garden Inn repeatedly and walked out on his check each time was arrested July 31.
The 23-year-old man ordered and ate a $40 meal, which included barbecue ribs, a shrimp cocktail, and a Miller Lite, before leaving the table.
An employee confronted him and he said he was going to the bathroom.
But the bathroom was in a different direction than he was heading, according to his Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office arrest report.
When he was asked how he would pay for the meal, he said his mom was going to take care of it. But he would not give them her name or phone number, the report said.
He was searched but had no money. He was charged with defrauding an innkeeper, which is a misdemeanor.
