MILTON — The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a telephone scam involving law enforcement impersonation, according to SRCSO Public Information Officer Rich Aloy.
During the phone call, an individual represents himself as a deputy. He then tells the people he calls there is an active warrant for their arrest. He will then demand money in lieu of arrest, according to Aloy.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office will not call anyone to tell them the department holds an arrest warrant, nor will it ask for monetary payments.
Aloy advises people, upon receiving such a call, to disconnect immediately and contact 983-1190.
