Eglin Air Force Base student Jacob Flanigan has been awarded a scholarship of up to $50,000 from the Corvias Foundation.

While at Navarre High School, Flanigan participated in indoor percussion, marching band and teaching elementary students at the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station.

He plans to study computer science and music at the University of West Florida.

The Corvias Foundation awards scholarships based on merit and need. Each student was required to respond to four questions that highlighted different aspects of their lives as students and as members of an active-duty military family.

“Being a recipient of the Corvias Foundation Scholarship will heavily impact my life," Jacob said. "It will allow me to further my education without burdening my parents with the financial expense nor burden me with the debt of school loans."

The Corvias Foundation has awarded over $7 million to military families. Flanigan is part of the 12th year of scholarship recipients.
