NAVARRE — A 46-year-old Navarre man has been charged with sexual assault on a victim younger than 12 and lewd and lascivious molestation of a young victim.

The charges stemmed from abuse that is alleged to have occurred several years earlier with both a male child and a female child.

Glen Curtis Copeland was arrested May 12.

The male victim said the abuse started when he was 5 or 6, when Copeland would touch him in places he didn't want to be touched, according to his Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office arrest report. The child also said Copeland bribed him with money or games.

Copeland also told the child that when he was a child, he did stuff like he was doing with him and that he wanted the child to "be like him." The alleged abuse went on for at least six years, according to Copeland's arrest report, and included oral and anal sex, the report said.

When Copeland was confronted about the abuse by a boy's family member, he did not deny it and became quiet and "teary," the report said. He also said he really cared about the boy and that he was sorry.

The female victim said the alleged abuse began in 2011 when she stayed with him while her mother was out of town. He asked if he could peek under her towel when she came out of the shower and she told him no, according to his SRSO arrest report.

She said that when they watched movies together, he tried to unbutton her pants but she pushed him away. He did it again and asked how she "liked it." She told him she didn't like it at all and moved away from him, the report said.
