PACE — The Pace Rotary Club guest speaker this week was Meri Asmar, president of Pensacola Bay Area Impact 100. Impact 100 is an international organization of women who provide grants to nonprofit organizations in their communities.
Each member donates $1,000 so that, collectively, they can fund at least one significant grant to a local charitable initiative that demonstrates community impact and sustainability.
In 2016, 10 grants of $108,200 each were awarded in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in these focus areas: arts and culture, education, environment, recreation and preservation, family, and health and wellness.
Committees of women meet to review the submitted grant applications, examine the financial documentation and organizational leadership, conduct site visits to better understand each initiative and ultimately determine winners in each area.
Pace Rotary Club meets 7 a.m. Thursdays at Stonebrook Golf Club, 3200 Cobblestone Drive, Pace.
