Motorcyclist killed on State Road 87 Monday

Charges are pending in a Monday evening accident on State Road 87 that left a Gulf Breeze man dead.

Richard D. Lacquement, who was 64, was pronounced dead after the 2004 Honda motorcycle he was riding struck the right side of a Chevy Tahoe that turned in front of him, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

Lacquement had been heading south on 87 at about 5:30 p.m. as he approached the intersection with East Bay Boulevard. Witnesses told state troopers that the light at the intersection was green for north and southbound traffic at the time of the accident.

As Lacquement was headiing into the intersection, he struck the side of a northbound vehicle that was making a lefthand turn onto East Bay Boulevard. Anne M. Hamby, an 18-year-old Navarre resident, was not injured in the crash.

She was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor, the report said.

Lacquement was wearing a helmet. Alcohol results are pending for Lacquement, the report said.

Charges will be decided after a traffic homicide investigation has been completed.
