Sophie Babin, a senior at Vandebilt Catholic High, spent some of her summer days painting murals at Maria Immacolata Catholic School.
Babin volunteered for the project when MICS Principal Prissy Davis contacted the Vandebilt art department to see if anyone was interested in taking on the project.
The murals are on each stairwell of the two-story building, and one is in the middle of the second-floor breezeway area.
Babin is the daughter of Tammy Babin and Paul Babin, residents of Houma. She is a member of Art Club, Key Club, Student Council (serves as art director) and is in Art IV and graphic design classes.
Babin said she gets her inspiration from both parents. Her mom is a crafty person, who does hair design. Her father, who she said is analytical, is in engineering design.
Babin also has a lot of support from her friends. One of those friends, Zeik Theriot, a Maria Immacolata alumnus, helped her with the murals.
Babin plans to attend Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.
