Inside the charming white house at 6692 Berryhill Road in Milton is a new specialty shop – one full of unique furniture, handmade gifts and home décor.
On Jan. 5, Anne Norton and Ed George opened The Shoppe on Berryhill.
The business partners are now able to develop their own flair for a shop using items they’ve gathered from yard sales and flea markets.
“We get so excited about (finding special items) and now we can share the joy with others,” Norton said.
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Norton and George met about four years ago at a flea market. They have a similar love for “the find.”
The two take items they’ve found in the area and often “bring them back to life,” George said. Behind The Shoppe, Norton and George have a workshop where they are able to repaint furniture and fix up dressers, nightstands, headboards and other items.
“We want quality,” George said.
Some pieces that can be found at the shop include glassware, lamps, art, vases, books and even a vintage typewriter.
Although the store may have some antique items, they don’t consider themselves an antique shop — rather a store of orphaned furniture, George said.
The two keep the quality items at reasonable prices and also attempt to become familiar with their customers in order to make them feel comfortable.
A small number of vendors also display items in the shop, such as handmade greeting cards and natural soaps.
The two are constantly moving items around to keep the shop looking fresh, and they’re loving every minute of it.
“I’m a hard worker, but if you like doing it then it’s just fun,” George said.
