Milton man arrested on 20 counts of sexual assault

A Milton man was arrested Monday on sexual related charges involving a minor.

Lavaughn Weatherly, 52, of Milton, was charged with 20 counts of sexual assault on a victim under 18 by a custodian where the sexual battery victim was under 12 years of age and 10 counts of lewd and lacivious behavior by molesing a victim under the age of 12 and the offender is 18 or older. All 30 counts are life felonies.

On Monday the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office received a call from a Child Protective Investigator with the Florida Department of Children and Families following an intervew in response to an anonymous abuse report.

A CPT Forensic Interview was arranged at the Santa Rosa Kids House and during the interview it was learned the subject had been sexually abused by Weatherly on or at least 20 occasions. The first time the victim was molested was around the age of nine.

The interview also revealed the abuse continued until June or July of last year.

Lavaughn admitted to sexually abusing the victim and that he had touched them on numerous occasions. During the post Miranda interview he stated "he could not recall how many time he mollested" the victim and that he "would not call [redacted name] a liar."

He is currently remains lodged in the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond.
