Republican Club meeting scheduled
The Republican Club of Santa Rosa County will hold its next monthly meeting and Dutch Treat Dinner at The Club at Hidden Creek, 3070 PGA Blvd, in Navarre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. The featured speaker will be Bob Cole, Santa Rosa County Commissioner of District 2, who is also a candidate for re-election. Bagdad continues 170th Anniversary Lecture Series
In celebration of Bagdad's 170th Anniversary, the Bagdad Village Preservation Association will host the seventh installment in a series of lectures, "History of the Schools and Churches in Bagdad". Places of worship and education have served a vital role in the social and cultural development of Bagdad. Church and school histories have been gathered from old records, letters, newspapers, photographs, as well as recorded personal recollections. You will hear about a Tom Thumb wedding, find out where “Birdland” is located, plus many others interesting tales. Long-time Bagdad residents Elaine Willis and Gloria Cook will be your guides as we take a trip down memory lane. You will be delighted with funny stories and historical facts about the village of Bagdad
The presentation will be held August 7th, 10:00 a.m. at the Bagdad Village Museum, 4512 Church Street, Bagdad, with refreshments following. There is no cost and all are welcome. Hospice to speak tomorrow on Stages of Dying, Nutrition in the terminally ill
Emerald Coast Hospice’s Branch Director, Cathy LaPaugh, will offer Santa Rosa Health and Rehabilitation staff an overview of Stages of Dying, Nutrition in the terminally ill when she speaks to the group on July 29 at 2 p.m. at Santa Rosa Health and Rehabilitation located at 5386 Broad Street, Milton, Florida 32570.
Cathy will explore the various stages one goes through during the end of life. Examples and goals of nutrition for the terminally ill will also be addressed. This in-service is open to the public. Nurses will receive 1.2 contact hours from their respective state board and Social Workers will receive 1.0 contact hours.
Early Learning Coalition to meet Thursday
The Early Learning Coalition of Santa Rosa County will hold board and committee meetings tomorrow, Thursday, July 29. The Nominating Committee will meet at 8:30 a.m., the Finance Committee will meet at 9 a.m., the Executive Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. followed by the full board meeting at 10 a.m. The meetings will be held in the conference room of the Early Learning Coalition Office, 6555 Caroline Street in Milton (located in the back of the parking lot between Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s Pizza). This meeting is open to the public.
Santa Rosa Tea Party Patriots schedule August meeting
On Monday, August 2, at 6 p.m., the Santa Rosa Tea Party Patriots will meet at the Red Barn Bar-B-Q (Dutch Treat) located at 5887 Highway 90 to address the upcoming elections and to present the findings of the committees. This is an opportunity to become a part of the SR Tea Party Patriots. It is time to stand up and be counted. West Fla. Hospital’s Mobile Mammography Unit schedules screening
West Florida Hospital’s Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the following location on Thursday, August 5 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Women’s Center, 4252 Woodbine Road in Pace. The mobile mammography unit provides comprehensive mammography services that feature an all-female staff of nationally certified and licensed technologists and state-of-the-art equipment, including Digital Mammography and CAD (Computer Aided Detection). For extra assurance, two board-certified Radiologists read all mammograms. The Mobile Mammography Unit is also certified by the FDA and accredited by the American College of Radiology. Weight Control to be focus of health-conscious cooking classes

City of Milton meeting
—Milton’s City Council will meet in Executive Session on Monday, August 2 at 4 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall, 6738 Dixon Street.

SBDC at UWF continues Brown-Bag Lunch Series
The Small Business Development Center at the University of West Florida (401 E. Chase Street, Suite 100) is presenting a Brown Bag Lunch on Wednesday, Aug. 4, from noon to 1 p.m., entitled “Accounts Past Due…How to Collect.” The seminar is free.
