Canyon Hills Women's Club elects new officers
Hills Happenings: A look at what's going on in Anaheim Hills
Canyon Hills Women's Club recently elected officers for the 2009-10 club year.
Kerri Meyer will take the helm from Kristi Force as president. Serving on the board are: Susie Alexander, vice president; Diana Frost, secretary; and Shawn Roelke, treasurer.
Other officers include Cyndy Bailey, ways and means, spring luncheon; Ways and Means Art of Soup Event Kristi Force with helpers Sandra Clement and Susie Alexander. Alisha Munger is parliamentarian.
Last year was another busy and successful year for the nonprofit organization. Members worked hard on the annual Art of Soup Event in November, with $1,600 being donated to the 2nd Harvest Food Bank.
The women's club also supplied Christmas gifts for eight families — a total of 32 people — in conjunction with the Adopt A Social Worker program.
This month, the group will also shop for and deliver supplies for Camp Pendleton's Marine's Recovery Baskets.
Some of the philanthropic projects the group supports each year include Paint Your Heart Out, Art Contest, Adopt A Social Worker, firemen/policemen appreciation, local schools and sponsor programs at Canyon Hills Library.
Membership is open to all women 18 years and older interested in fun, friendship and community service.
Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday evening of the month, beginning at 7 p.m. at the East Hills Community Center on Santa Ana Canyon Road and Roosevelt, except during July when the club is dark.
Other exceptions include June's meeting, which is held each year at a member's home for a potluck dinner; and December's meeting is held at a local restaurant.
Those interested in additional information about the women's club should visit www.cynhillsjrs.com or call the club phone at 714-284-7270 to leave a message.
BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED
Canyon Hills Presbyterian Church deacons will sponsor a blood drive on Tuesday, Feb. 23 in the church parking lot.
This blood drive is crucial to blood banks in Orange County, which are at an all-time low level, due in part, to the economic downturn with many businesses unable to provide blood drives, leaving blood supplies at even lower levels.
Anyone interested in participating should contact the church office at 714-637-7660 to schedule an appointment. Red Cross donors also have the opportunity to sign-up on line at www.redcross.org.
Deacon John Martindale is in charge of the Blood Drive.
Anaheim Hills resident Sharon Hlapcich would love to hear from you about the community. She can be reached by phone (714- 998-4604), fax (714-685-7933) or e-mail (smhlapcich@sbcglobal.net).
