March Madness begins on Sunday

This is a call out to all Santa Rosa County bracketologists.

Basketball fans can have two different opportunities to prove they are king of the hill when it comes to basketball.

This year the Press Gazette is offering its readers two opportunities to cash in by trying their luck at the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament.

The first opportunity is made possible by our friends at Beef’O’Brady’s in Pace who will be awarding our local winner a $100 certificate for picking the most games correctly in the tournament of 65.

“We are very proud of the chance to once again work with Beef’s in Pace to make this possible,” said Bill Gamblin, Sports Editor of the Santa Rosa Press Gazette. “Beef’s has been a long time supporter of the Press Gazette and our various sporting contests and once again we are glad they stepped up to the plate to help make this possible.”

There are several different ways to participate in the Press Gazette/Beef’O’Brady’s Bracket Contest.

You can download the bracket off our website at www.srpressgazette.com fill it out and turn it in at the Press Gazette office on Elva Street in Milton or you can go to Beef’O’Brady’s in Pace and fill out a bracket there.

For our friends on the Internet we will also allow you to fill out your bracket and send it in to sports@srpressgazette.com, but be sure to indicate it is the bracket contest in the subject line of your e-mail.

The deadline to enter the SRPG/Beef’O’Brady’s Bracket Contest will be the tip-off of Thursday’s first game.

“We are purist when it comes to the NCAA Tournament and feel that 64 teams is the ideal number,” Gamblin said. “With that in mind we do not count the play in game in our contest.”

The second opportunity we are offering this year is the Freedom Communications Bracket Contest, which is available on line at www.srpressgazette.com.

In this contest you will be pitted against other players within the Freedom Communications coverage area with various prized to be announced on the website as you get your bracket.

Good luck and study hard so you can make your picks when the brackets are released on Sunday.
