Downtown Milton's Riverwalk Arts Festival returning for 22nd year

The Riverwalk Arts Festival is returning for 2010 with a packed schedule full of visual and performing arts, children’s activities, entertainment and of course food.

The 22nd annual festival, which will be put on alongside the Blackwater River in historic downtown Milton’s Riverwalk Park will be held on Saturday, May 22nd through Sunday, May 23rd from 10am to 5pm.

Numerous volunteers, community organizations, artists and performers have will be on hand to ensure visitors a good time, along with nearly 100 vendors who have signed up already for the festival.

Judges will hand out over $5,000 in cash prizes in six different categories for artists who submit their work.  In the past, the Riverwalk Arts Festival has played host to a lot of out-of-state artists, and live entertainment.

Willing Street running parallel to the Blackwater River will be closed off during the festival to accommodate for vendors. Parking will be limited, so festival organizers are asking that visitors car-pool if able.

This year, the Riverwalk Arts Festival will host the only area farmer operated market.  This Farmer’s Market will be located at the North end of Willing Street at Berryhill Road, and will offer fresh local produce to visitors.  The Farmer’s Market hosts local farmers and their produce, and all of the proceeds gathered through the market go right back to the growers.

People wishing to contribute to Santa Rosa’s future Cultural & Performing Arts Centers will have the opportunity to do so at this year’s Riverwalk Arts Festival.  To make a donation, check in at the Foundation’s Information Booth, which will be located at Willing Street & Hwy 90 on the south side for this year’s Festival programs, lost and found and answers to questions about the participating artists.

And who can forget what the festival is all about? The All County Youth Art Exhibit winners will be presented their awards at the start of the Festival at the North Cultural Performing Arts stage located on the Imogene Theatre’s parking lot at the north western corner of Willing Street and Hwy 90, also known as Caroline Street.

Along with youth art, the festival will play host to local and out-of-state artists, who will showcase their talent to visitors.

Along with arts and crafts, the South Entertainment stage will have live music by RipTide and other entertainers and bands.
