Armstrong found guilty of DUI related charges
State Attorney Bill Eddins announced Thursday the conviction of a Gulf Breeze man by a Santa Rosa County Jury.
Peter Felix Armstrong was found guilty of DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene or a crash involving property damage.
Armstrong will be sentenced by Judge David Rimmer on March 20 and he faces a maximum of 15 years in state prison.
On Nov. 26, 2010, Armstrong was driving on Highway 98 after leaving a bar in Fort Walton when he struck and killed Paul Shirley.
Shirley was riding a bicycle on Highway 98 at the time of the accident.
Armstrong fled the scene and crashed he car into a wooded area before fleeing on foot.
A citizen who witnessed the crash, called 911 and gave the vehicle description.
Armstrong was located a short time later by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office as he was walking in a nearby neighborhood.
According to Eddins, Armstrong has a previous DUI conviction in 2008.
