Speak Out April 30, 2008

Monday, 2:07 p.m.
Yes this is Marie and I am calling regarding Saturday’s paper with the school bus accident where the school bus driver received a citation. Bus drivers should only have to drive a bus. They should have a monitor on every bus to monitor the children.
How can he be expected to keep control of children and keep them orderly and disciplined and drive? It is just ridiculous. I have asked about it in the past for volunteers, because there are plenty of parents who have the time and have gone through background checks already.
But I was told because of insurance reasons is why there can’t be other adults on the bus. So is the children’s safety more important than that? I think it would be.

Monday, 7:29 a.m.
Yes this is Maria. Monday morning 7:30 a.m. on Arienne Drive, this lady with a mini-white van, I know she lives in this area and I wish she would stop speeding over 50. She speeds through this area four to six times every morning. She flys by at 7:30 a.m. and then comes back and again at 8 a.m. because she has children to drop off at school. She needs to stop speeding. The Police don’t do anything; the police don’t do anything.

Saturday, 7:16 p.m.
My name is Brenda and this is to the viewpoint in Saturday’s paper about the courthouse. You would vote for the one-cent tax if you worked in the courthouse with the mold. One end of the building is cold, one end of the building is hot and you don’t know to wear short sleeves or long sleeves. If you worked there you would vote yes to the one-cent sales tax too.

Saturday, 3:18 p.m.
This is Louise in response to the viewpoint in Saturday’s paper about the vote/poll that you had on the one-cent sales tax. He questioned if the 84 people in favor of the tax, if those 84 people work in the courthouse. Well I don’t work in the courthouse and I voted for the tax. Even if I did work in the courthouse what is wrong with wanting a place to work, a place to sit in, and safe healthy building to work in. I don’t see anything wrong with that. So maybe this person and everybody else need to go and see for themselves.

Saturday, 11:39 a.m.
Hi, my name is Jerry. I am not attacking a business, but I just got my Gulf Power bill for one of two houses I am living in as we are moving. But I noticed on my power bill there is a customer charge of $10. Now I called Gulf Power and they said everybody is charged $10 to maintain the wires and the telephone poles, ect. Well why am I paying an energy charge, fuel charge, gross receipts charge, Santa Rosa franchise fee, outdoor service charge, outdoor light charge and more. Don’t some of these charges cover the wires like by $217 power bill? This $10 charge should be addressed. Speak up folks because this is wrong. Ten dollars for each Gulf Power customer, add it up.

Sunday, 8:20 a.m.
Yes, this is Thomas in Pace. I have been around getting gas in Milton and Pace and I have noticed lately I am not getting what I am paying for. We need to get someone to check the gas pumps at all these different places. The government is already getting enough of our money and gas is already way to high. That is all I am going to say.
