As of November 18th, the East Gate hours of operation at Naval Air Station Whiting Field have been reduced to 5-8 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gates will no longer be open on weekends or holidays. According to Jay Cope public affairs specialist, the hours of operation of the gate will remain until further notice.
“I understand this is inconvenient for a lot of people. This isn’t a choice anyone wanted to make, but in the current operational and financial environment, we need to be prepared to sacrifice some of the conveniences we took for granted. The hours of operation were chosen based on the times of greatest usage to limit the impact as much as possible,” said Capt. Matthew Coughlin, NAS Whiting Field commanding officer.
NAS Whiting Field houses around 3,000 personnel any given day counting active duty, reservist, and contract personnel.
