The Milton Panthers will be one of 22 teams playing in the 20th annual Aggie Classic Baseball Tournament in Pensacola. The tournament, hosted by J.M. Tate High School, will be the week of March 18-21, 2013. Local locations for the pool play will be Escambia High School, Tate High School, Washington High School, West Florida High School, Woodham Middle School and Pensacola State College. The championship game will be at the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Stadium. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are an AA affiliate for the Cincinnati Reds.
The Milton Panthers play under Head Coach George Blake, who said, “We really enjoy the quality opponents that (Tate High School) Coach (Greg) Blackmon brings in from around the country. Tate High School always puts together a great competitive environment that exhibits class from top to bottom. We are proud to share the tradition of this tournament with the Tate Aggies.
“We feel that our tournament is one of the best in the country,” Blackmon said. “The venues for the games have been improved thanks to Pensacola State College and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Teams are coming from great distances, as well as our local teams, and I’m looking forward to a great week of competition.”
As a special bonus, there will be an official opening ceremony from 2-6 p.m. March 17 at the Wahoos Stadium. There will be tournament announcements and a parade of teams followed by a team “meet and greet.” The opening ceremonies are open to the public.
Tickets for each game are $5 for adults and students and will be available at the gate at each location. Games will be played at the six local fields Monday though Wednesday with the championship games at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 21. Thursday games will be played at the Wahoo Stadium and tickets are $6 for this event.
