Margaret Taylor, FamiliesFirst Network’s director of policy and quality, received the Florida Department of Children and Families’ Distinguished Service Award during the recent Florida Revenue Maximization Conference in Orlando.
Taylor, who was the keynote speaker at the September conference, was honored for the exemplary leadership she provided for the state’s Revenue Maximization Initiative. That initiative is responsible for increasing and maintaining federal funding for child welfare. It demands strict compliance with federal requirements.
Taylor was DCF’s director of federal funding for about 11 years. She was responsible for increasing those funds and ensuring the state was in compliance with all federal audit requirements. At the conference, Taylor’s keynote address, “The Golden Thread,” centered on how that work was done in the early 1990s and what led to the creation of revenue maximization units throughout the state.
